Why Coaching?
10 things you should know
as you or your team consider coaching:
as you or your team consider coaching:
- 1. It’s intentional. You only work on what you want to accomplish.
- 2 It’s built on the belief that you already have what you need to get started. The coach draws out what you want to do with what you’ve got.
- The coach takes a posture of listening first. They work really hard to make sure they’re hearing exactly what you’re saying.Where else does that happen?
- After all that listening, a good coach follows up with powerful questions… you know the kind of questions that make you stop and think. You can’t answer a powerful question with an easy answer. These questions will stretch you.
- A coach keeps you focused on what’s most important. You’re probably not going to write a five year plan, but you will make progress toward your goals. One leader recently said “I get more done as a result of one one-hour coaching conversation than in a year of meetings.” How about you? Making progress?
- You can be coached toward any measurable destination. If you can break down the journey into measurable steps, a coach can help you get there.
- Coaching is a relationship first. Imagine a person who helps you find the answers. And is all about your success.
- The old saying goes “two heads are better than one.” Jesus sent the disciples out 2 by 2.You and a coach, working together, making things happen. See a pattern?
- It’s fun. Ask any coach (or anyone who’s been coached effectively.)There’s a serious joy about figuring out what you’re on earth to do (and then actually doing it!)
- Bottom line: coaching works. Got something you need to get done? Got a change you need to make Need someone to journey alongside of you? Try getting a coach.

What's Involved
* An initial phone conversation followed by your completion of a questionnaire and enneagram personality assessment helps us begin our relationship and discern what it is you would like to work on.
* I email you a Coaching Agreement. This agreement outlines expectations for you and for me in the coaching relationship, specifies the scope and length of our coaching arrangement and sets forth your initial goal. NOTE: Official coaching does not begin until the two of us have signed off on this mutual agreement.
* Coaching meetings are once a month, scheduled by you and done by phone (or in a coffee house / restaurant setting if in the Aiken-Augusta area) and are held to one hour.
* Prior to each coaching meeting you will fill out a coaching prep form through or uploaded to Coachnet so as to keep me abreast of what is happening related to the things you will be working on and specifically what you wish to address during our time together.
* To see any true benefits from coaching I recommend a six month agreement (at a minimum three).
* At the end of three months you will complete an evaluation form which will help you discern how the process is going and how I am performing as your coach. This will help you decide if and how you wish to continue. For six months of coaching this will be a mid-point check in so that we can make any needed adjustments and then a final evaluation will come at the end of our six month period.
